Love.Me.Some.Kate.Sylvester...

...I am in totally in love with this new collection by Kate Sylvester. Seriously I want practically all of the pieces in my wardrobe. Edie and I often chat about fashion and I find it hard to describe my style.  Well folks, here it is. Now all I have to do is start dressing this way!

Sweet & Girly

(Image via Fashion Gone Rogue)

I adore this shot from the latest Mulberry campaign. The fun and girly vibe, is youthful and sweet, albeit a more grown up and sophisticated version of sweet.

It reminds me of the days when my girlfriends and I would all meet at someones house before a party to get ready together. Hair, make up, styling, pre-drinks - It was literally like the party before the party and I have to say, often the most enjoyable part of the night. What a shame that nights like these faded away with the onset of maturity.
Perhaps it's time to reintroduce the concept back into my life....

Kate Moss By Mario Testino

(Image via HIGHSNOBIETY)

I'm going a little crazy trying to justify spending $500 just to own a piece of this creative genius.... It would surely be my coffee table book pride and joy- the ultimate in my collection.

It's so hard being a sensible, non-spending adult sometimes. I guess I just wait and hope it appears at my door step.

What A Wonderful Suggestion

Last night Lucia and I had the pleasure of attending a screening of the Bill Cunningham New York documentary as part of the Melbourne Film Festival.
I'm not going to lie, when Lucia emailed me suggesting that we go and see it- whilst I agreed because I trust her impeccable judgement- I had never even heard of Bill Cunningham.
More fool me, oh what I have been missing out on!

For those of you who have not heard of Bill Cunningham, I strongly suggest A.) you watch the documentary and B.) check out some of his genius street fashion photography in the style section of The New York Times.

My intention for this post however, is not to rave about the documentary (for you will see it for yourself), but to send a very special and heartfelt thanks to Lucia for being such a beautiful friend, with a gift for introducing me to all that I love, that I may have missed out on otherwise. Much love to your for that L. x

What I Love About Fashion

(Images via Noir Facade)

There are many things I love about fashion, but the thing that ignites the most passion in me is the fantasy.
The idea of clothes, shoes and accessories coming together to form an image or a style that seems out of this world and in some cases unattainable, is like a wonderfully addictive dream that sits just out of reach. The fact that there's many elements you might never be able to access make it all the more desirable, for there's nothing more attractive than something that's not quite yours.

Take these pictures for example, never in a million years would I A.) be able to afford these clothes or B.) even be able to pull them off. I understand that there's a lot going on there, what with the opulent brocade coats, plush fur and bold animal prints, but the point is: doesn't it make you want to live in a world where these kinds of fashions are the norm? Just for a second?
It's escapism, pure and simple, but I have to say, doesn't everyone need a little fantasy once in a while.

A New Style Crush...

...I have been seeing this cool chick popping up on a few blogs lately. I went to her site and WOW, I think I have found a new style guru. I love how she puts her outfits together, the layering is somthing I have always had trouble with and she knocks it right out of the ball park!

Love Me The Styling

(Image via Fashion Gone Rogue)

There's not really a whole lot to say about the styling in this shoot, because realistically it's quite a simple concept, but that's exactly what I love about it.
I adore the clothes and the lilic/grey(ish) colour palette, the laser cut silk shorts by Prada looks amazing on Miranda Kerr, whilst the silver star belt around the waist gives the whole look a little bit of edge.
It's a simple production and I just can't help admiring the total effect.

Something So Charming

(Image via Fashion Gone Rogue)

There is something so alluring and charming about Abbey Lee Kershaw. I feel like it's the vulnerability she displays in her photos, but then you hear/read her interviews and she's an incredibly strong, self assured woman who has a style so distinctly her own and that to me, is to be admired.

LOVE the new haircut and adore this editorial shot by Angelo Pennetta for the July issue of Vogue Nippon.
The styling and set location are beautiful and I simply must have the Chanel lariat necklace in the photo below - divine.

Ellen von Unwerth

(Image via Fashion Gone Rogue)

Last week Lucia was schooling me on the beauty that it is Ellen von Unwerth's photography. Wow, I adore!

You see, this is one of the things I love about the dynamic between Lucia and I; we're both interested in the same things, but different aspects of the same things- so where I can school her on fashion and beauty, she returns the favour with weddings and photography. Not in so many years have I had such an interesting and engaging friendship.

Sex and the City

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of watching the new Sex and the City movie; something I had been looking forward to all week.
Now I know that many reviewers have panned it and I feel it needs to be said that a majority of these reviewers were male. I mean, really? Why would you send a male to go and review a movie like SATC.

I had no expectations going in except that the fashion would be out of this world. The creators have never disguised the movie as something that will stir up great thought. It is quite simply a movie for the millions of fans still pining to see what's happening to Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte.
Quite simply it's pure indulgence and a whole lot of escapism at it's best. For who doesn't want to live in a  world where on holiday and faced with an impromptu dinner with an old love, you remember that you've got that breathtaking Emilio Pucci gown in your suitcase that you packed 'just in case'.

I watch a movie to forget what's going on in my life, to open my eyes to a world that may or may not ever be a reality for me. So when a movie like SATC makes me smile for two and a half hours, then that to me, is a success.

On a side note, desperately loving these sling back Louboutins - Who doesn't love a little sparkle in their lives.

How Did I Miss These...

(via People)

Wow, wow, wow. I'm not sure how I missed these two photos from Cannes but they are a standout. Ms Cotillard, welcome back. It is so nice to see you looking lovely. And Helen, well what can one say.  Amazing.

OK Edie, You've Got Me On This One...

...So Edie mentioned today that Carine Roitfeld, editor of French Vogue, is her new style fascination. At first I couldn't understand this at all, and I sadly admit to teasing her just a little about this startling claim. Well after reading this fabulous article in The Telegraph, I claim defeat and give Edie a heartfelt apology. I get it now.  I think I'm beginning to see the amazingness that is Carine Roitfeld.

I Admit I Am A Little Taken By....

....Diane Kruger. She exsudes such a quiet confidence and charm that is totally mesmerishing.  Then to top it all off I read that she is her own stylist, makeup artist, and hair-stylist. Wow. Impressive stuff.

Sketch Me A Fashion Fairytale

(Image via Vogue UK)

Georgio Armani - Lady Gaga, American Idol 2010

There's something about a designers illustrations, that always makes the clothes look so amazing....to me, they have all the makings of a fashion fairytale  of the most glamorous kind.
In my imagination, I have framed illustrations from Galliano, Lagerfeld, Armani, Gaultier, Valentino and de la Renta decorating my house, walk in robe and dressing room.
That to me, is art.

Indulging My Inner Child

(Image via Chanel News)

As a little girl growing up, it was all about the Barbie's. Once a Barbie girl, always a Barbie girl.
So you can imagine how much Chanel Barbie not only appeals to the little girl in me, but also to the big girl who loves fashion the way she used to love her Barbie's.
They are literally my child and adult self combined.

Have I mentioned that Christian Louboutin has released a series of Barbie's on Net-A-Porter as well? Complete with their very own pair of mini Louboutin's.....don't even get me started.

The Perfect Outfit

(Image via I Love Wildfox)

This outfit for me is perfection.
If I had the money to afford a head to toe Chanel look like this, this is exactly what I would wear. Sophisticated, chic, black, glamorous - everything I like my style to be.

And of course when I envisage me in this outfit, I'm strutting around the streets of Paris. Can you imagine it too?
