A Valentino Moment

(Image via BlackLOG)

Today is the day. Today is Valentino day.

You can imagine my disappointment quite a few months ago, upon discovering that Valentino's retrospective was A.) not coming to the fashion capital that is my home, Melbourne and B.) was exclusive to the GoMA in Brisbane (?) No disrespect BrisVegas peeps, but Melbourne is the centre of the world, how did this even happen!

Having said this, you can now go ahead and imagine my delight, when a family wedding was scheduled for this exact weekend, leaving me some Saturday leisure time that could only be spent with an abundance of iconic, amazing, genius, inspiring couture.
I. Am. Going. To. Valentino.

if I go a little mad OR get arrested for trying to touch the clothes, don't judge, it's not my fault. This is one of those moments in life where you cannot be held accountable for your actions.
Of course, apologies in advance to my loving, supportive parents who will be coming with me because I asked them to and because Dad's a cultural connoisseur...or something like that (his words).

I'm quite sure that this is how some people feel when they see the Mona Lisa or Picasso's work....Valentino's genius up close and in personal - I need a new word for excited.

Have You Ever...

(Images Via Fashion Gone Rogue)

...been fascinated by an editorial, so much so that you're left wondering what the inspiration/idea was behind the shoot?
I can't help staring  at these haunting and somewhat manic shots of Sasha Pivovarova by Craig McDean. The styling is beautiful and I love the designer 'police tape' adorning the garments.
It's all a little bit Angelina 'Girl Interrupted ' meets Bridezilla, but OH so pretty.

I particularly love this second image- having just come off a crazy work week, I can't help but imagine how much better I would have felt had I been able to have myself a glamorous little meltdown moment just like this.

These Shoes In My Size Please

(Images via fashionjunkii)

Whilst not entirely a new shoe vision (Valentino, Paris Spring/Summer 2010), after a tough week full of a little less joy than normal, I felt the need to break out with something that is so utterly me and so obscenely glamorous it could only help to lift my funk.

These heels are so unashamedly high glam, representing femininity via the lace and incorporating the tiniest bit of 'edge' via the black. They are literally like the sexiest of lingerie for feet. But then what else would you expect from a collaboration with one of the worlds most famous Miliners, Philip Treacy and Valentino?

If you're lucky enough to be able to wear a pair of these magnificent heels, the outfit must be discreet because it will be about nothing but the shoes!
